Roberto Orci – Leonard Nimoy, Frank Welker in the running for the role of voicing The Fallen

RobertoOrci

Posting on our 2005 Boards, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen writer Roberto Orci has answered another round of your questions, and revealed some interesting facts about Transformers Revenge of the Fallen and its 2007 predecessor.

– Who will voice The Fallen? Bob Orci has teased with who we might hear when this mighty ancient Transformer speaks:

Hey Bob, what are your feelings towards the idea of Leonard Nimoy doing the voice of the Fallen?

– Would love it. I actually talked to him about it, given the odd coincidence that he is Michael Bay’s cousin through marriage, but fan outcry has also put [Frank] Welker in the running.

– Additionally, in Revenge of the Fallen, the only reason that returning big bad Megatron is not renamed Galvatron was for the sake of the general audience.

On the subject of the original film, Bob revealed a few of the trials and tribulations that went on behind the scenes –

Movie 1 was the hardest thing they have ever worked on. Period. Nobody could imagine what it was, everyone thought it was just a silly cartoon or a toy commercial, the studio wasn’t sure if the robots should talk, we had to come up with a story that would attract someone like Bay, and we had budgetary constraints that made it necessary to generate a significant human story which was counterintuitive to some Transfans. By the second movie, the paradigm of the franchise was clear.

On behalf of the staff, I would once again like to thank Mr Orci for taking the time out of his busy schedule to answer our questions. If you have a question that you would like to ask Mr Orci about either of the Transformers Movies, you can do so in this thread on our 2005 Boards.

Also posted is an interesting bit of backstory about the trials of making the first Movie, and about Megatron? The only reason he's not called Galvatron is for the sake of the general audience who is not aware of the Megatron - Galvatron paradigm

And here we are yet again, the film is due out in 4 months and they haven't even recorded the Transformers lines yet. more thrown together" Boy sniffing" dialogue to come.

  3. Ra88's Avatar Ra88 says

Nimoy as the Fallen and Welker for Soundwave, plz.

    EDIT: Where was this posted?

  4. Doug's Avatar Doug says

I am also glad they did not go with Galvatron. I am surprise about Welker in the running to voicing The Fallen. I thought he was going to do just Soundwave.

As long as Frank Welker gets a role, I don't care who he voices lol. Leonard Nimoy would be awesome though, I loved him in Transformers the Movie as Galvatron (but again, as long as he doesn't take a role away from Welker!)

Nimoy and Bay are cousins, that's a funny coincidence. Quite frankly I'm glad they're avoiding the whole Reborn Megatron is Galvatron angle, that got quite old with the AEC trilogy.

As for all the lines not being recorded with a little over three months to go, I'm not worried, it gives Orci and company more time to tweak them before they're recorded. Who knows the Fallen may be the last character they're looking to cast?
