We now have images of Movie Preview Bumblebee & Soundwave! The packaging reveals that Soundwave is a triple changer! This was speculated a few months back, and now we have confirmation!
Here is the press release from UK Toy Fair, with some interesting news….
THEY’RE BACK! TRANSFORMERS STORM THE TOY AISLE PRIOR TO THE LAUNCH OF THE NEW BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE
This summer, the conflict between the AUTOBOTS and the DECEPTICONS continues when ROBOTS IN DISGUISE once again invade cinemas around the world. The new DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures live-action movie TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN hits the screen on June 26 and picks up the saga from the 2007 blockbuster that finds two warring factions of robots colliding in a major battle on planet Earth.
For 25 years, Hasbro has provided kids with hours of MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE action with awesome figures that convert from robot to vehicles and back again. Millions of boys around the world grew up creating fantastic adventures and battles set on both the planet CYBERTRON and Earth that featured the heroic AUTOBOTS, including OPTIMUS PRIME and BUMBLEBEE, clashing with the evil DECEPTICONS, led by MEGATRON. The toys’ popularity reached a new crescendo with the release of the 2007’s live-action TRANSFORMERS movie, cementing the toys and the brand in the upper stratosphere of pop culture.
The 2009 Transformers Movie Line includes:
TRANSFORMERS MOVIE FIGURES
They are back on the big screen and the actions promises to be bigger and better than ever before! The new range of TRANSFORMERS movie action figures – featuring the new film’s most popular characters – will be available in three scales: DELUXE (the entry level line with the simplest conversion process), VOYAGER (larger scale), and LEADER (largest scale and includes lights and authentic sounds). DELUXE includes a total of 24 characters[/B].
SRP from £12.99; Ages: 5 +; Available Summer 2009
Full range still to be revealed!

Ya, I really like how they have them packaged in robot mode. Lets us take a better look at them to make sure we get one with good paint applications. I'm still wondering when these two will be available for release.
Valkysas
at least this way you get to check the paint applications in the store, rather than buying one and finding out it's face is a fingerprint.
Guneagle01
thats stupid, why are they packaged in robot mode? half of the fun is opening them and transforming them for the first time. what a bummer.

Weren't the instructions for RID Megatron similar?
"Arrange limbs"
Valkysas
Soundwave's third mode is Origami. the instructions will read "arrange the panels" and nothing more.

And Just How Do You Know That Satellite is his third mode?
I Mean I'm On Broad with the idea of a satellite mode but how do YOU know?
MisterE
Soundwave's design looks rad as hell. Probably gonna have to get him.

Soundwave: Yes.
BB: No. That's the WORST remould I've seen since……nope! Can't think of anything.
saberconvoy
Soundwave looks realy cool in box.

As much as most of the posters say that they will prefer Soundwave over Bumblebee. I believe that Bumblebee will actually sell out first and Soundwave will end up like protoform Starscream as remaining in stock. Collectors are really just a small percentage of the market. Everyone will have better access to Soundwave because of this.

Where do the casettes go?
RedAlert Rescue
Because that (supposedly) 1/3rd of Arcee we has no proper robot mode to it (unless one counts unicycling) I wonder if Arcee will be a box of 3 Bikes sold as a Voyager toy.
Cinemastique
I guess I just prefer my Transformers as "Robots who transform into everyday objects and vehicles!" It aids in the fantasy, for me, to see things from the movie/toys in real daily life, and, at some geeky level, go "hmm…"
Who among us, after all, has looked at a Peterbilt the same way since we saw one become Optimus Prime?
When Transformers turn into
1) Random hodgepodge "Cybertronian modes," (Armada, Energon, Movie Megatron)
2) Flashy concept cars that might never see the light of day, much less be a "subtle disguise"
it just doesn't get me as excited.
Maximus_Prime
here's what I think we will get.
Leader Class
Optimus Prime
Megatron
Jetfire
The Fallen
Voyager Class
Ironhide
Starscream
Optimus Prime
Ratchet
Earth mode Soundwave
Deluxe Class
Bumblebee
Preview Soundwave
Sideswipe
Unnamed Audi R8
3 bikes for Arcee
Jolt the Chevy Volt
Mudflap – Chevy Trax
Skids – Chevy Beat
A box set for all the Constructicons (7) (the rumored $100 set)
that adds up to 26 figures, but who knows really
I would love to see the old school ice creme truck get a toy, that looks cool
Optimus Prime
Well, I finally got my Soundwave today, and I think that until I have his instruction sheet in my hand, he's going to stay mostly in robot mode because I have no idea what his "satellite," or whatever third mode he has should look like, and the Empire "official" pics show a different space cruiser configuration than these new "official" pics.
However, I think that the cruiser mode in these pics is the legit version because it looks best and because they mistransformed the robot mode in Empire's pics, so their vehicle mode pics are probably off, too.
That being said, he was worth the $35 just for the awesome robot mode.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the first triple changer in the movieverse?
Infil
Based on Orci's comments about triple-changing in TF2, I wonder if Soundwave's triple-changing is a toy-only feature.
For the preview toys from TF1, Optimus's protoform was based on the CGI models, but with a more Prime-like head. Starscream's protoform was a totally new design. We've seen Hasbro/Takara take more liberties with the preview line, perhaps they added a new feature to Soundwave.
An alt mode like Soundwave's can be mistransformed into many different looking alt modes. They could have chosen to make one of these an official third mode.
raptorclans
Well, you do remember that the movie preview line of the 1st movie was in robot mode… perhaps the main line will be in alt mode perhaps?
