Jalopnik has posted new images from the set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona. The images feature the Bumblebee Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Trax, and Chevrolet Beat. The most exciting part of these pictures is that they reveal the license plate on the Chevrolet Beat reads SKIDS. Has the identity of the Chevrolet Beat been revealed? There is no official confirmation, but it appears that Skids is likely the name of the Autobot disguised as the Chevrolet Beat.

Some say the Trax plates looks like an "M" at the start… but im gonna say it looks close to a "H".
And im gonna call him Hubcap from now on.
Supremus
The Traxx is Wheelye.
– Orange
– ******ed-looking head
Beastbot X
I highly doubt they'll name him after a slang word that is almost 20 years old.

My 2 cents…..not that 2 cents is worth much these days!
Chevy Trax = Rad
Rad (G1) – Transformers Wiki – Teletraan I
Rad is a two-fisted 'bot of science. Equally at home on the battlefield and in the laboratory, Rad's inherent level-headedness keeps his quick-tempered partner Lionizer from atomizing everything in their path. It also makes him incredibly popular amongst his teammates because of his sheer amount of skill, though he never lets it get to his head, nor does he let those few who hate him for his skills get him down.

Hmmmm
Starscreamer95
If you ask me it dosent matter what his name is, aslong as they give him good character develoment.
Torque
Skids is excellent for the Beat, and Swerve would be perfect for the Trax, esp f they're related
Akumaxv
I think that's a good choice for the character. Pretty much looks like his G1 incarnation, which aside from the color, is perfect.
Even though this isn't a rehash of G1, they pretty much got his alt mode perfectly.
Here's hoping the robot mode doesn't look like all the other shitty robot modes.

I guess Bumblebee already took Skids' thing of 'I just want to be your car', which would've been a nice character trait for Skiddy (yes, yes – I know this movie isn't G1 before you all start coming out of the woodwork to point that out).
Still, I guess there's nothing to stop Bay from having Megan Fox leaning over Bumblebee and sudsing his hood.
Bass X0
I'm guessing the car came first and the character came second.

Skids Model (pun) :
Honda City Turbo "Skids"
Autovolt 127
Finally after 23 years of neglect,2 episode cameos, 1 g1 toy,1 TRU reissue and an Alternators/Binaltech figure Skids is getting his time in the sun.
Coolhand
Hey, nice one Skids!
I really like this news. After 25 years of getting sidelined and abused (though his Alt was a wonderful figure) Skids finally makes it to the Autobot A list as a movie character. This actually feel like a really nice nod to G1 for me, taking quite an obscure guy and bringing him into the forefront a little more. So I'm happy.
Agreed. Skids and Swerve has a nice linguistic feel to it for twins.
I just pray the Trax isn't Mirage. Anyone but Mirage. Just a personal thing, but for me Mirage is a loaded name and I have very specific feelings about how that character should be portrayed. A Chevy Trax/Ice Cream truck isn't it.

It's somewhat understandable from a cultural standpoint. The USA didn't have the sub-sub-sub-compact "commuter cars" such as the Honda City, especially in the mid-eighties, so many people (including some comic artists apparently) mistook Skids for a small van, which it resembles in basic silhouette. That's what made Alternators Skids so perfect (IMO anyway) – another vehicle that looks a lot like a van, but is actually too small to be one. From my own experiences as a suburban American, I was pretty amazed during my trip to Japan. They had whole classes of vehicles that you never see in my country.

Pfft…more lousy Autobot news…ewyuck.
reave
Now Swerve is a name/character I can see working for the Trax. And Swerve + Skids would be good names for twins. Nice call.
llamatron
Skids? Nice choice.
Still hoping The Trax is Cliffjumper, but really it could be any minibot. Actually, Swerve would be a pretty good name for him. Swerve and Skids.
deceptifocus
i kinda liked him as the scion, he was cool alternator, but this is a 2 hour long GM commercial so..
Fit For natalie
Skids was a Honda City Turbo sub-compact, but since those type of vehicles didn't exist in the US at the time, he was depicted as a minivan in Marvel-based US fiction (like the comics and the G1 cartoon)
The Marvel comics model still made him too big and van-like, because when I say sub-compact, I mean SUB-COMPACT
A bit hard to do justice to a character that most people don't even remember existing due to his near total absence from the most well-known G1 fiction. Sure, he also appeared in the Marvel comic, but he disappeared into limbo as well.
Dude is essentially a blank slate.
