Fantofan.jp has posted pre-orders for three newly announced Transformers Henkei figures. All three are of upcoming Transformers Universe releases, which will be “USA Edition” releases in Japan. These Henkei releases will feature more cartoon accurate coloring on the figures than the Universe versions, but the figures will come in the original Universe packaging. Powerglide (in red), Silverbolt, and Onslaught will all be available in October. For images of all three Henkei versions, click on the image to the left.

Do you recall how much you paid for shipping? Like for say for 1 voyager or 1 or 2 deluxes?
Runamuck
I have. I got the first Henkei figures from him, black movie Incinerator, and a black Arcee. He's great to deal with. Shipping seems fair to me, and is dependent on whether or not you choose SAL or EMS and how much you ordered.

Hey, has anyone ordered anything from F2F before to North America? If so, what was it and what was the shipping costs? He can't give a quote yet, and I don't want to pay an outrageous shipping fee. Any estimate would be appreciated, thanks

I'll get Onslaught and Powerglide. HENKEI FTMFW!

As much as I didn't hate the fact that he was white in the American release, I was more bothered by the fact the red head really seemed to stick out, even with the trim. It made the head look even bulkier and not sized correctly than it was. I even saw it in person and thought that. The red blends a lot better and feels more like Powerglide to me. I get that Hasbro wants a more realistic style with universe, and I respect that. I just don't think it works with that toy. I will be buying the Hasbro versions of the rest of the Ultras and Deluxes. The paintjobs really work on those and I don't like the excess use of chrome the Japanese have gotten into. Excess chrome FTL.

After comparing my own pics from Botcon, and the proposed colors for the Takara releases, I'm siding with the majority on this topic. In conclusion:
– Cancelled my Universe Powerglide preorder.
– Pre-ordered "Henkei" Powerglide.
– Keeping my Universe Onslaught and Silverbolt preorders.
With more TF toys released in 1986 than in 85, more in 87 than in 86 and about the same in 88 than in 87, I'd say the "futuristic vehicles" didn't impact TF popularity back in the day. Lack of cartoon support certainly did.
I haven't ordered from F2F, but I bet shipping costs from F2F would be higher than from BBTS.
Sometimes I get better deals from HLJ (also based in Japan like F2F), and sometimes BBTS has the better deals.

Their price will be more expensive then anyone.

BBTS has them up for pre-order. Price is more expensive than fantofan

I was just noticing that toy yesterday and thought he'd make a good name for the White Powerglide in my colection. Thanks for pointing it out as I am way to lazy to done so myself. (even if I did take the pic.)

making much lower profits in the long run = winning???
Feralstorm
Not wanting to spend the money still counts as "Didn't feel like it."
Renidragon
Yanno, Powerglide is the only one I like more. I like the Hasbro Onslaught more, and I'm pretty indifferent on the differences on Silverbolt.
Autobot_Goldbug
I wonder if there is some hidden competition between Hasbro & TakaraTomy. Obviously TakaraTomy is winning!

they replied to my e-mail and they didn't know how much shipping would cost yet.

You could call him Hot House!
Railguard
Even though I am going unbelievably insane waiting for the new Universe line to come out, I will not be pre-ordering any of these. I will order them online if I cannot find those hard to find tf's though.

i believe the correct term is "couldn't afford new packaging without bumping up the price of each toy significantly" than "didn't feel like making up new packaging"
REDLINE
I definitely want Powerglide, no question about it. I don't believe I'm worried about the other two, though. I'll end up getting two Silverbolts anyway, so I'll have one unmodified, and one for my Superion 'bash, and the one I use to customize I'll probably dye the dark greys black. I honestly think that's the only real improvement with the Henkei version. The white vs light grey really doesn't bother me any.
Feralstorm
One thing I find humorous is that, according to the FantoFan site, the ultras are "USA Editions". Tomykara really needs to quit using that term, and go with the more accurate "We didn't feel like making up new packaging for our Japanese-exclusive repaint … edition" instead.

ha ha lol, i was going to say… g1 was about transforming toys, NOT articulation lol! how ever, they are still great toys,
for, 25 years ago lol!
but i don't know, i like both red and the white powerglide, but, i tend to buy the american versions vs the japanese versions, unless their is more paint, like, cybertron jetfire, has less then galaxy force jetfire, which actually had his wing lights, colored.
but, in this case, i think the japanese one, while is g1 colors, actually has, less paint, then the american one, maybe if the colors were revised, i'd like it more. how ever, since the american one will be less sought after, i'll probably buy it, it'll be cheaper lol!
