BestBuy.com has listed a special Transformers Movie DVD giftset that includes what appear to be two exclusive Robot Heroes figures!
The first is Transformers Movie Bumblebee repainted red as Cliffjumper, and Transformers Movie Optimus Prime in what appears to be a G1 Ultra Magnus deco.

Ah dang, I likes me some lithographs. I'm still hoping our Targets get the transforming case though… Man, the choices!
Though those robot heroes are appealing to me too… The main problem is I have none of them (usually don't get non-transformin' 'formers). But if I get that, I'll probably suddenly have to get the rest too. And with my luck they will all have disappeared from shelves by then

I have some new info. There will be three exclusives available at Best Buy. There is a free lithograph for the first 10 or 20 per store that purchase the dvd. The 2 robot heroes that are attached to the dvd and the metallic figures. I believe the metallic figures are purchased seperately for $19.99. My friend glanced at the new add and will have more info later. Might even have a pic of the new ad too.

wow. Lame. ok 2 Disc DVD for me.
Soundout
They are not action masters these have at least 2 points of articulation.

I don't like buying extra copies of DVDs for exclusives like on fantastic four 2. But I make an exception for transformers.
Jarodimus
I lol'd!
Foster
Tell you what, fanboys. I'll buy this version of the DVD and sell off the little action masters.

Well, now I know where I'm going to be getting the DVD.

Yeah, that comment confused me, because of exactly what you said. I mean, they could angle them differently in the packaging I guess…
"Exclusively at Best Buy: Backwards Cliffjumper and Upside-Down Ultra Magnus! Totally new and different!"
Jarodimus
Given the nature of Robot Heroes, that would still mean new molds.
Bendimus Prime
I'm betting so. There will probably be a big cardboard display that has both versions of the movie (regular and HD), the metallic figures, and something else like posters or keychains. My Best Buy did the same thing for the DVD release of 300 and Family Guy Volume 5.

Just glad it was movie Robot Heroes and not G1 Robot Heroes since I don't collect the movie Robot Heroes and didn't really like the film enough to buy it just to add to the Robot Heroes collection.

Considering it's a store exclusive and the COST of a new mold for any form of store exclusive is unheard of due to it being so prohibitive. If Bestbuy wanted to dump an exorbitant amount of money into something like that and foot the bill, then yes. But this is Bestbuy that is paying for it I believe, and this is not about pleasing fans so much as "Hey buy it hear and get some free bonuses" in an effort to drum up sales on a big item and draw them away from the competition. The Business model is not fan service, but sales that driving this, otherwise it's not worth it to BB .
The only time a new item was created for an exclusive was the recent Swerve mold for the car companies, and that was something I would imagine the car distributors were more then willing to pay for due to the movie craze. Also considering that it was a motor vehicle and not a DVD, I think the amount soaked for the development was a bit less in relative perspective.

I'll probably get the movie on the 16th, then totally get this one just for the Robot Heroes when its released….and depending on the packaging leave the movie MIB : P

Hasbro do something original? surely you jest… we are talking about a company that has been milking repaints to the extreme for 30 years. Why do you think they are still around when all their competition died out in the 90's (and subsequently bought by Hasbro to make even MORE repaints!)
Surprised Hasbro is still in business, tho, since they rely so much on paint and the recent Chinese lead paint scare…
Smasher
Does this apply to the HD-DVD release as well?
edicius
I might just have to get this.
Then keep the Robot Heroes and sell off the DVD on Half.com. If I can sell the DVD for at least $20, it'll be worth it.
EDIT: Okay, I'm a sucker…just pre-ordered.
Runamuck
At least make them in different poses from their counterparts.
Bass X0
haha… do you honestly believe that they ever would?
